The Police have arrested four men, aged between 28 and 37 for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery.

On 11 November 2019, the Police received a report that a man had stolen cash of $118,000 and jewellery amounting more than $21,800 along Roberts Lane. Preliminary investigations revealed that on 11 November 2019 at about 12.15 am, one of the men entered a room of a commercial building while the other three men acted as lookout. Upon entry, he impersonated as a ‘CID officer’ and demanded to search the victim’s property. Out of fear, the victim surrendered his valuables from the safe containing cash and jewellery.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of footages from police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the four men and arrested them on 14 and 15 November 2019.

The four men will be charged in court on 16 November 2019 for robbery with common intention which is punishable under Section 392, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted for robbery shall be punished with an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 10 years, and caning of not less than 6 strokes.
