24 women were arrested during a two-day enforcement operation against unlicensed massage establishments and public entertainment outlets along Rangoon Road, Anson Road, Lavender Street, Syed Alwi Road and Raffles Boulevard conducted from 28 to 29 November 2019.
During the enforcement operation conducted by Central Police Division, three massage establishments were found to have contravened massage establishment licensing conditions. Five women, aged between 19 and 34, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.
During the enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets, two outlets were found to have contravened public entertainment licensing conditions. Eighteen women, aged between 20 and 36, were arrested for offences under Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. A 32-year-old woman was arrested for an offence under Immigration Act.
Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Massage Establishment Act 2017 and the Public Entertainments Act. The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
