The Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of mischief by fire.
On 10 December 2019 at about 3.55 am, the Police was alerted to a case of fire at the ground floor of Blk 408 Fajar Road, where a rubbish bin was burnt. Shortly after, at about 4.10 am, the police was alerted to a similar case at the ground floor of Blk 412 Saujana Road.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within three hours after the cases were reported. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is also believed to be involved in other similar cases of mischief by fire.
The man will be charged in court on 11 December 2019 with mischief by fire. The offence, punishable under Section 435 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 7 years and a fine.
