A ten-day multi-agency enforcement operation led by Clementi Police Division and supported by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Special Operation Command, Police Licensing and Regulatory Department and Central Narcotics Bureau was held from 6 to 15 December 2019.
As part of the operation, enforcement checks were conducted at industrial and residential premises, liquor outlets and public entertainment outlets. Enforcement operations targeting crimes such as illegal gambling and online vice activities were also carried out.
In total, 268 persons were checked, of which 19 persons, aged between 16 and 78, were arrested. 10 men, aged between 52 and 78, were arrested for offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act. A 38-year-old man was arrested for drink-driving and a 22-year-old woman was arrested for suspected involvement in online vice activities. The remaining seven persons were arrested for various offences such as being members of an unlawful society and offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act and Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. Investigations are ongoing.
The Police would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to stay vigilant against crime, especially during this festive period. The Police takes a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take a tough enforcement stance against such activities.
