The Police have arrested a man and a woman, aged 39 and 53, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 19 January 2020 at about 10.05 am, the Police received a report of a stolen motorcycle along Canberra Crescent. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them on 20 January 2020. The motorcycle was also recovered.

The man and the woman will be charged in court on 22 January 2020 with theft of motor vehicle with common intention. Anyone convicted of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
