The Police have arrested three teenagers, aged between 16 to 17, for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 29 January 2020 at 7.25am, the Police received a report that a coffeeshop at Blk 365B Upper Serangoon Road had been broken into. Cash and cigarettes amounting to $1178 were discovered to be stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identities of the teenagers and arrested them on the same day of the offence.
The three teenagers will be charged in court on 31 January 2020 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years, and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;
- Secure all doors and window grills when leaving your shop unattended, even for a short while;
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and;
- Keep large sums of cash in banks.
