The Police have arrested a 18-year-old teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 2 March 2020, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a residential unit located at Block 173A Punggol Field. Jewelry worth about $3,600 were discovered to be stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 3 March 2020. An assortment of jewelry were seized.
The man will be charged in court on 4 March 2020 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
a. Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;and
b. Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
