The Police have arrested 28 women in a seven-day enforcement operation by Central Police Division between 27 February and 4 March 2020. The operation was targeted against massage establishments, liquor outlets and public entertainment outlets along Jalan Sultan, Jalan Besar, Middle Road, Campbell Lane and Beach Road.
During the operation, seven unlicensed massage establishments were detected and one massage establishment was found to have contravened massage establishment licensing conditions. Two women, aged 27 and 31, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.
During the enforcement checks on liquor and public entertainment outlets, two outlets were found to have contravened liquor licensing conditions and four outlets were found to have contravened public entertainment licensing conditions. 26 women, aged between 18 and 35, were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Massage Establishment Act 2017, Liquor Control Act 2015 and the Public Entertainment Act. The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against criminal activities and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
