The Police have arrested a 19-year-old teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 7 March 2020 at 10.29am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a workshop along Kaki Bukit Road 4. Cash amounting to S$2220 was reported stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from closed-circuit television footage, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him along Kaki Bukit Road 4 on 7 March 2020. Cash amounting to S$1130 was found on the teenager and seized.
The teenager will be charged in court on 9 March 2020 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
· Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
· Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in commercial premises; and
· Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or close circuit surveillance cameras to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
