The Police have arrested a 59-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.

On 14 March 2020 at 7.27am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking along Jalan Senang. Cash amounting to S$36,000, RM10,000 and TWD85,000 were reported stolen.

Through investigations and with the aid of CCTV and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

The man will be charged in court on 16 March 2020 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

·             Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

·             Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in any premises; and

·            
Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
