The police arrested a 26-year-old man on 22 July 2020 for his suspected involvement in a series of bicycle theft in Aljunied Crescent, Bedok North Road, Bedok Reservoir Road and Chai Chee Street.
On 20 July 2020, the police received a report where two bicycles, which were parked at the bicycle bay along Aljunied Crescent, were stolen. Through ground enquires, and the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 22 July 2020. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other cases of theft of bicycles. Several bank cards and identification cards, which were suspected to be stolen, were found on him.
The accused will be charged in court on 24 July 2020 with
- Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
- Fraudulent possession of property under Section 35(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act, Chapter 184, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to one year or to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or to both.
