The Police have arrested four men, aged between 31 to 33, for their suspected involvement in a case of wrongful confinement.

On 16 August 2020, the Police received a report that four men had forcefully pulled a male victim into a car along service road off Verdun Road and left. Through ground enquiries and follow up investigations, officers from Central Police Division and Criminal Investigation Department established the identities of the four men and arrested them on 17 August 2020. Preliminary investigations revealed that the four men are believed to have wrongfully confined the victim in order to demand for the victim to return a sum of money that he had purportedly cheated one of the four men in an e-commerce scam.

Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of wrongful confinement under Section 342 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 is punishable with an imprisonment term that may extend to 3 years, a fine, or both.
