A 34-year-old man will be charged in court on 2 September 2020 for allegedly making insulting communication towards a public servant in relation to the execution of her duty as a public servant.
On 29 May 2020, a Traffic Police (TP) officer reminded the man via a messaging platform to make timely payment for his outstanding fines relating to two traffic offences. The man had allegedly not picked up the TP officer’s prior phone call. In response to her texts, the man allegedly made insulting comments and sent upskirt images of unknown persons. A police report was lodged and the Police arrested the man on 3 June 2020.
Anyone convicted of the offence of making insulting communication towards a public servant in relation to the execution of the duty as a public servant punishable under Section 6(3) of the Protection from Harassment Act will be liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000, or to an imprisonment term not exceeding 12 months, or both.
The Police will not tolerate any acts of abuse against public servants who are carrying out their duties. Offender will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
