Central Police Division presented the Public Spiritedness Award to two members of the public on 28 September 2020 for assisting the Police in two separate cases. 

In the first case, on 8 March 2020, Mr Alwin Goh Jun Da, who owns a drinks-stall at Bugis Village, saw a man standing suspiciously close behind female passersby on several occasions and he reported the matter to the Police. With the information provided to the Police, the man was subsequently placed under arrest for outrage of modesty.

In the second case, on 9 July 2020, Mr Choo Chiang Poh witnessed a traffic accident along Jalan Besar. He then saw a man picking up a mobile phone which belonged to the injured victim. Mr Choo then kept an eye on the man and informed the Police officers when they arrived at scene. The mobile phone was recovered and the man is currently being investigated for dishonest misappropriation of property.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Gregory Tan Siew Hin, Commander of Central Police Division said “We would like to express our gratitude to these individuals’ acts of public-spiritedness. Their commendable acts of stepping forward to provide valuable information to assist the Police in apprehending those who flouted the law have highlighted the importance of building a trusted partnership between the Police and the community.“
