The Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon.

On 5 January 2021 at about 4.15pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a male victim was allegedly slashed by an unknown man using a knife along Geylang Road. The 25-year-old victim was conscious when conveyed to Raffles Hospital.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 7 January 2021.

The man will be charged in court on 8 January 2021 with voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon punishable under Section 324 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, or fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
