Man Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Grievous Hurt By Dangerous Means

The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means.

On 14 January 2021 at about 8.15am, the Police were alerted to a case of assault along Bedok North Street 3. The victim was found with multiple injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man and the victim were known to each other.

The man will be charged in court on 15 January 2021 with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means under Section 326 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries a punishment of imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and shall also be liable to caning or if he is not sentenced to imprisonment for life, liable to fine.
