The Police have arrested two men, aged 30 and 44, for their suspected involvement in separate cases of outrage of modesty.
For the first case, the Police received a report on 12 January 2021 that a 20-year-old woman had been molested by an unknown man on a bus. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the 30-year-old man and arrested him on 19 January 2021.
For the second case, the Police received reports on 13 January and 18 January 2021 that three females, aged between 13 and 15, had been molested by an unknown man on a bus. Through investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the 44-year-old man and arrested him on 18 January 2021.
Police investigations are ongoing for the first case.
The 44-year-old man, who was suspected to be involved in the second case, will be charged in court on 20 January 2021 with outrage of modesty to a person under 14 years of age under Section 354(2) of the Penal Code. The offence carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.
