The Police have arrested a 44-year-old woman for cheating.

On 20 January 2021, the Police were alerted to a case where the woman had allegedly cheated more than 20 victims of foreign nationality into paying a fee between $25 and $125 for forged passport renewal appointment letters.

Through investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division had established the identity of the woman and arrested her on 21 January 2021.

The woman will be charged in court on 23 January 2021 with cheating. The offence of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine.

The Police take a serious view of persons who may be involved in scams and frauds, and perpetrators will be dealt with, in accordance with the law.
