Three Individuals Presented With Public Spiritedness Awards And Two Organisations Presented With Community Partnership Awards

On 25 January 2021, Clementi Police Division presented the Public Spiritedness Award to three members of the public, and six staff from two organisations were commended for their strong community partnership with the Police.


Cases Commended for Public Spiritedness Award

On 11 July 2020, Mr Muhammad Suhanas Bin Abdul Aziz spotted a man and a woman behaving suspiciously at a staircase landing of a residential block located along Telok Blangah Drive. Upon seeing Mr Muhammad, the man quickly pulled the woman away and left the area. Sensing that the woman could be in trouble, Mr Muhammad decided to search for the duo, and found the man committing an inappropriate act on the woman at another level of the said block. Mr Muhammad confronted the man and gave chase when he attempted to flee. The man was subsequently detained by Mr Muhammad, leading to his arrest.

On 18 September 2020, Mr Teo Soon Kwan Elisha Peterson contacted the Police to submit information on a car which was parked at the vicinity of a carpark along Bukit Merah View. The car had visible damages and a male driver was observed to be sleeping in the said car. With the information provided, the Police officers conducted checks and subsequently arrested the male driver for offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act and Arms and Explosives Act.

On 29 September 2020, Mr Ong Keng Chor contacted the Police when he saw three men chasing another group of people at the vicinity of Pandan Gardens. One of the three men was also spotted carrying an offensive weapon. As the group fled in a car, Mr Ong then followed the suspects and provided clear description to the Police, leading to their arrest.


Individuals Commended for Community Partnership Award (Individual)

On 5 July 2020, the Police received a call for assistance regarding a case of rioting at Palawan Beach. Five rangers from Sentosa Development Corporation; Mr Lee Hai Chan, Mr Lai Wen Long, Mr Mohamad Ridhwan Bin Ariffin, Mr Yusree Bin Md Adahar and Mr Muhammad Sharizan Bin Abdul Rahman managed to detain the six men who attempted to leave the scene, leading to their arrest.


Organisations Commended for Community Partnership Award

Police-Community partnership is an invaluable component of our crime prevention strategy. The Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) was presented the Community Partnership Award (Organisation) in appreciation for their close collaboration with Clementi Police Division  in organising Delta E-Sports 2020, a virtual E-Sports youth engagement programme to engage the youths from various schools, under Clementi Police Division.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Marc E, Commander of Clementi Police Division, expressed his appreciation to the award recipients for their public spiritedness in making our community a safer and more secure place to live in, and partnership with the Police.

Mr Muhammad Suhanas Bin Abdul Aziz, Mr Ong Keng Chor and Mr Teo Soon Kwan Elisha Peterson were being awarded the Public Spiritedness Award by Commander of Clementi Police Division, DAC Marc E.
