The Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for housebreaking and theft.
On 15 February 2021 at about 1.40pm, the Police were alerted that a private school along Ah Hood Road was broken into. Some souvenirs, bank cards, a watch and cash amounting to more than $200 were reported stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 17 February 2021.
The man will be charged in court on 18 February 2021 with housebreaking and theft, punishable under Section 451 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in commercial premises; and
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
