The Police have arrested four teenagers aged 18 to 21 for their suspected involvement in a series of sexual services scams.

On 13 December 2020, the Police received a report from a 20-year-old victim who chanced upon an advertisement providing social escort services on an online classifieds website. The seller purportedly had no intention to deliver the social escort services even after the victims had made payment.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of all the teenagers. An operation was conducted from 8 and 9 March to round up the five teenagers, resulting in the arrest of the four teenagers.

The teenagers allegedly cheated more than seven victims of more than $7,000 through a series of sexual services scams.

One of the teenagers, an 18-year old male, will be charged in court on 11 March 2021 for an offence of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of up to 10 years and a fine. The remaining four teenagers will be assisting with investigations.

The Police take a serious view of persons who may be involved in scams and frauds, and perpetrators will be dealt with, in accordance with the law.
