The Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft from vehicle.
On 17 March 2021, the Police received a report that a cashcard was stolen from a vehicle parked at a carpark along Choa Chu Kang Crescent.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division and Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 29 March 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft from vehicles.
The man will be charged in court on 31 March 2021 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, a fine, or both.
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following measures:
- Install an anti-theft alarm system;
- Do not leave cash and valuables such as cashcards, laptops, handphones, briefcases or wallets in your vehicle;
- Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while; and
- Park your vehicle in well-lit areas.
