The Police have arrested a man and woman, both aged 30, for their suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.
On 9 April 2021 at about 7.55pm, the Police received a report that an unknown man had allegedly snatched a female victim’s mobile phone along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 and fled. The phone was purportedly handed over to the woman, who was believed to have sold it off subsequently.
Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from nearby CCTV cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identities of the duo and arrested them on 14 April 2021. The handphone was recovered and seized.
The duo will be charged in court on 16 April 2021 with the offence of snatch theft with common intention under Section 356 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence of snatch theft carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.
