The Police have arrested three teenagers aged 18 and 19 for their suspected involvement in a case of evasion of roadblock.

On 15 May 2021, at about 12.30am, the Police received a report that a vehicle had evaded a roadblock and beat three red lights along the way. Through follow-up investigations and PolCam footages, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the driver and passengers within 16 hours. An operation was conducted immediately on the same day, resulting in the arrest of three male teenagers.

The driver of the vehicle will be charged in court on 17 May 2021 with evading a roadblock under Section 26 of the Police Force Act, which carries a fine not exceeding $5,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both. He will also be charged for an offence of rash driving on a public way under Section 279 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, a fine which may extend to $5,000, or both. Police investigations against the passengers involved are ongoing.

The Police take a serious view of persons who evade roadblocks and drive recklessly on the roads. Perpetrators will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
