There will be a change of command at Woodlands Police Division on 18 May 2021.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Ang Eng Seng (洪湧胜) will assume the command of Woodlands Police Division on 18 May 2021. He will take over from Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Leon Chan (陈亮华) who will assume the appointment of Deputy Director of the Central Narcotics Bureau for Operations on 1 June 2021.
DAC Ang, 41, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2005. He has served 16 years with the SPF and has held several key appointments including Aide-de-Camp to the President, Commanding Officer of Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre, Senior Assistant Director (Security) at the Policy Development Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Head Operations and Security of the Police Coast Guard, Principal Staff Officer to the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division.
AC Chan, 40, was appointed Commander of Woodlands Police Division on 25 November 2018 and joined the SPF in 1999. In his 22 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments, including Commanding Officer of Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre, Assistant Director of Research, Planning and Organisational Development in the Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Project Director concurrent Deputy Director (Special Projects) of the Police Logistics Department.
AC Chan was tasked to oversee the construction and operationalisation of Woodlands Police Division, SPF’s seventh Land Division, and was later appointed as its first Commander. Under AC Chan’s command, he led his officers to solve major crimes and rolled out various crime prevention campaigns to prevent crime and combat scams, while ensuring the smooth execution of major public safety and security operations such as the General Election 2020 and COVID-19 related deployments.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Woodlands Police Division, AC Chan said, “It has been an honour and a privilege to be entrusted to set up this new Division and to serve as Woodlands Police Division’s first Commander. Our achievements were only possible because of the officers who have always given their best to face all challenges – whether it be setting up the Division, innovating to fight new crimes like scams or adapting to execute SPF’s mission in a COVID-19 environment. I have also been lucky to have close working relationships with a network of partners in the community, towards the shared outcome of keeping Singapore safe and secure.”
