The Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft of metal urns.

On 7 June 2021, the Police received two reports that two prayer urns had purportedly been stolen from two residential units along Jalan Bukit Merah.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Central and Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is also believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft of metal urns in the neighbourhood.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment for a term of up to 3 years, a fine, or both.
