The Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of housebreaking.

On 30 May 2021, the Police were alerted to two separate cases of housebreaking at two residential units along Verde Crescent. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly stolen one wallet containing cash and three mobile phones from one of the units.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from closed CCTVs and police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 10 June 2021.

The man will be charged in court on 12 June 2021 with housebreaking in order to commit an offence, punishable under Section 451 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in any premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
