The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and attempted robbery.

On 30 October 2021 at about 2.20pm, the Police received a report that a residential unit located along Sims Drive was broken into and cash amounting to S$300 were reported stolen from the said premise.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division and Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 3 November 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in another case of attempted robbery and other theft-related cases.

The man will be charged in court on 5 November 2021 with housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all home owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Lock all the doors and windows when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in any premises; and

  • Change all locks when your house keys are lost or stolen
