The Singapore Road Safety Awards (SRSA) is organised by the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC), with support from the Traffic Police (TP), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Workplace Safety and Health Institute (WSHI).

The SRSA recognises exemplary companies and company drivers/riders for their efforts in putting in place systems and for working conscientiously towards enhancing road safety. This contributes to the safety of other road users as well.

SRSA 2021 is organised virtually this year and the award winners will be featured in a video which will be posted on the SRSC’s Facebook page. (URL: https://www.facebook.com/SingaporeRoadSafetyCouncil). Please refer to the Annexes for the winners of this year’s SRSA.

Associate Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development, said, “The industry has its role to play. For example, companies involved in transportation can invest in well-maintained fleets of vehicles and driver support systems to enhance transportation safety. These investments are not only sensible from a business perspective – as they lead to better productivity and reduce costs arising from traffic accidents – they more crucially fulfil the moral duty to help keep roads safe.”

Mr Bernard Tay, Chairman of the Singapore Road Safety Council, also emphasised the importance of continued engagements with companies in the industry. He said, “With the boom of online commercial activities, logistics and last mile delivery companies are on the rise. We see more delivery vehicles on the road over the years. As such, it is important that we engage these companies to ensure that they will do their part in making our roads safe for everyone. We hope that these companies will also take up the mission of improving their road safety standards and join us for future awards”.

Commander Traffic Police, Senior Assistant Commissioner, Gerald Lim, made special mention of McDonald’s Singapore, which won a Merit Award for the Motorcycle Category, “McDonald’s Singapore has been actively collaborating with the Traffic Police and other stakeholders to educate and constantly remind their fleet of riders to gear up and ride safely. The Traffic Police strongly encourages more companies to play an active role to keep their riders safe.”

SRSC and its partners will continue to engage the industry as we all have a duty of care towards the road user community. The journey towards an accident-free road is one that requires the effort of every road user. Every person injured, or one life lost, is one too many.

SRSC encourages companies that operate vehicle fleets and their drivers to play their part by continuing to improve their safety standards so that our roads will be safer every day.
