The Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
On 14 September 2022 at about 11.50 am, the Police were alerted to a case of alleged robbery in the vicinity of Bedok North Street 2. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly assaulted a 45-year-old woman and fled with the woman’s money amounting to approximately $3,000, and her identification document.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV and footages from Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him at Lorong 4 Geylang on the same day at 2.20 pm. Cash amounting to about $2,800 was recovered from the man and seized as case exhibit.
The man will be charged in court on 15 September 2022 with voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871.The offence carries a penalty of imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
