The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft in dwelling.

On 9 June 2023 at about 2.18pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft at Indus Road. The man visited a pawnshop and requested to see a gold chain and a gold bracelet worth a total of $11,550. When the man was handed over the gold chain and the gold bracelet, he allegedly fled from the pawnshop.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him in the vicinity of Orchard Road within eight hours of the report.

Cash amounting to about $8655 and a gold bracelet were recovered. A handphone and his apparels used during the alleged offence were also seized as case exhibits.

The man will be charged in court on 10 June 2023 with the offence of theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
