The Singapore Police Force (SPF) hosted President Halimah Yacob at the Annual Police Dinner (APD) on Friday, 7 July 2023 at the Istana. At the event, Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck presented her with the Temasek Sword, the highest honour accorded by the SPF. A batik artwork painted by Jamiyah Home for the Aged and officers from Bedok Police Division was also presented to her.
President Halimah Yacob was the Guest-of-Honour (GOH) at the APD 2023. During her presidency, President Halimah Yacob played a crucial role in strengthening the partnership between the SPF and the community. As the Guest of Honour at the Police Bicentennial launch in 2020, she emphasised the importance of police-community partnership in ensuring Singapore's safety and security. President Halimah Yacob also officiated the Police Day Parade 2022 as the Reviewing Officer, where she inaugurated the SPF200 Bicentennial Medal and Medallion to commemorate 200 years of policing in Singapore. Her presence at these events and her encouraging words drove the SPF to continue to foster trust and deepen our collaboration with the community.
The Commissioner of Police thanked the President for her invaluable support in strengthening the partnership between the SPF and the community. Her legacy will continue to guide the SPF in its mission to prevent, deter and detect crime.
The APD has been an annual event held in appreciation of individuals and community partners who have contributed considerably to or worked closely with the SPF. Around 500 community partners, guests and SPF officers attended the event.
