The Police have arrested a 57-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft cases.

Between 13 and 16 September 2023, the Police received reports of theft cases at cafes along New Bridge Road, Serangoon Road and Kitchener Road. A few victims reported that their electronic devices with a total estimated value of about $7,900 were purportedly stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 22 September 2022. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in at least two other similar cases reported at other cafes.

The man will be charged in court on 23 September 2022 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, or a fine or both.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
