The Police have arrested a 31-year-old woman on 4 October 2023 for her suspected involvement in a case of cheating.

On 1 October 2023, the Police received a report from a victim who had fallen prey to a job scam perpetrated by the woman. The victim transferred a total of S$5000 to the woman, who promised to secure him job opportunities in Singapore. After receiving the money, the woman did not secure any job or had any job offers for the victim.

Through follow up investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her on 4 October 2023 in the vicinity of Woodlands Street 12.

The woman will be charged in court on 6 October 2023 with the offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police take a serious view of cheating offences, and offenders will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
