The Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of criminal breach of trust as a servant.

On 5 October 2023, at 6.23pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a 32-year-old man, who was employed as the sales manager of a restaurant, had allegedly misappropriated the restaurant’s sales proceeds amounting to about $113,000 over a period of 4 months. The man was entrusted to collect the sales proceeds but purportedly used the money for his personal gains instead.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division arrested the man within the same day of the report. The man is also investigated for a similar offence at a different restaurant where he had misappropriated more than $500,000.

The man will be charged in court on 7 October 2023 with the offence of criminal breach of trust as a servant under Section 408 of the Penal Code 1871.  Anyone convicted of criminal breach of trust as a servant will face an imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years and a fine.
