The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle. 

On 28 January 2024 at about 5.35pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motorcycle at a carpark along Rivervale Drive. 
 
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 29 January 2024 within eight hours of the report. The motorcycle was subsequently recovered along Yishun Ring Road.
 
The man will be charged in court on 30 January 2024 with theft of motor vehicle which is punishable under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries  an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.  
 
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures: 

  1. Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;  

  2. Do not leave your key or transponder unattended;  

  3. Remove cash-cards, keys, and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle and 

  4. Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
