The Police have arrested six Bangladeshi Nationals, aged between 30 and 39, for their suspected involvement in a case of gang robbery.
On 12 February 2024 at about 7.54pm, the Police were alerted to a case of gang robbery along Nicoll Highway whereby a 38-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted and robbed by a group of six men. The victim’s cash and handphone, totalling about S$860, were purportedly taken from him.
Following the report, officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations and established the identities of the six men. All were arrested on 14 February 2024. The stolen handphone was recovered.
Five men will be charged in court on 15 February 2024 with the offence of Gang Robbery under Section 395 of the Penal Code 1871. The sixth man will be assisting the Police for further investigation. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
