Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the teenagers and arrested them within six hours of the report. The stolen vehicle was recovered.

The two teenagers will be charged in court on 28 March 2024 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your vehicle in well-lit areas;

  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle and ensure that it is well-maintained;

  3. Remove the ignition key whenever the vehicle is left unattended;

  4. Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
