The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted robbery.

On 14 April 2024 at about 3.15am, the Police were alerted to a case of attempted robbery at a supermarket along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7. Preliminary investigations revealed that a man had allegedly walked into the supermarket with a metal rod, placed it on the cashier’s neck and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier did not accede to the demand and the man left the supermarket. No injuries were reported.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from the Police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the report. A metal rod was seized as a case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on 15 April 2024 with the offence of attempted robbery under Section 393 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 7 years, and caning of not less than 6 strokes.
