The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 5 May 2024 at about 12.30 am, the victim lodged a Police report stating that the man had allegedly touched her inappropriately while he was standing behind her at a supermarket along Punggol Central.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 9 May 2024.
The man will be charged in court on 10 May 2024 with the offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the safety of the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law. The Police would like to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and, if they witness an incident of molestation, or are aware of someone being a victim of molestation, to report the matter to the Police immediately.
