Four men, aged between 26 and 67, will be charged in court on 7 June 2024 for their suspected involvement in separate cases of outrage of modesty.

The cases are as follows:

  1. On 7 January 2024, a 40-year-old man had allegedly molested a 31-year-old woman, at the entrance of Clarke Quay MRT station. The man also purportedly fought with an unknown male subject. The man will be charged in court with one count of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871 and one count of affray under Section 267B of the Penal Code 1871. 

  2. On 18 February 2024, a 45-year-old man had allegedly molested a 16-year-old woman at a convenience store located along Belilios Road. The man will be charged with one count of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) Penal Code 1871.

  3. On 25 February 2024, a 67-year-old man had allegedly molested a 28-year-old woman along Bayfront Avenue. The man will be charged with one count of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) Penal Code 1871 and one count of criminal force under Section 352 Penal Code 1871.

  4. On 24 March 2024, a 26-year-old man had allegedly molested a 28-year-old woman along Dunlop Street. The man will be charged in court with one count of outrage of modesty under Section 352 Penal Code 1871.

The offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.

The offence of affray under Section 267B of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $5,000, or with both.

The offence of criminal force under Section 352 of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment for a tern which may extend to 3 months, or with fine which may extend to $1,500, or with both.

The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of those in the community, and offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
