The Police have arrested four men, aged between 23 and 31, for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting.

On 14 June 2024 at about 3.05am, the Police were alerted to a fight along the road of Raffles Link. Upon Police’s arrival, two groups of people were spotted to be shouting at each other, with at least five men purportedly engaged in physical altercation. Despite several warnings by the police officers, the groups remained rowdy and non-compliant. Use of force options, including police contact tactics and baton techniques, were used to de-escalate the situation and effect arrests.

The four men will be charged in court on 15 June 2024 with the offence of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and caning. Police investigations are ongoing to trace the remaining assailants.

The Police have zero tolerance for such brazen acts of violence that threaten the public safety, in blatant disregard for the law. The Police will spare no effort to apprehend those who commit violence and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law.
