Between 20 to 30 October 2024, Central Police Division conducted an enforcement operation on liquor retail outlets along Norris Road, Cuff Road, Clive Street, Upper Weld Road, Dunlop Street, Chander Road, Kerbau Road, Campbell Lane and Cuff Road. Following the enforcement operation, a total of 19 retail outlets are being investigated for offences under the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act 2015.
Out of the 19 outlets, one outlet was found to have set up a makeshift area for alcohol consumption, which is not permitted. The remaining outlets were found to have supplied alcohol without a valid liquor licence, or supplied alcohol beyond the licensed trading hours.
Any person found guilty of supplying alcohol without a valid liquor licence shall be liable on conviction:
- to a fine not exceeding $20,000; and
- where the person is a repeat offender, to a fine not exceeding $20,000 or to an imprisonment term not exceeding 3 months or to both.
Under the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act 2015, any licensee found guilty of contravening the prescribed trading hours within a Liquor Control Zone shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000.
