A 52-year-old male driver will be charged in court on 16 December 2024 with dangerous driving.

On 13 August 2024 at about 8.45am, the Police were alerted to a traffic accident involving a private bus and a car along Tampines Expressway (TPE) towards Changi. Investigations revealed that the car driver had allegedly overtaken the private bus, cut in front of the bus and braked abruptly intentionally, which resulted in a head-to-rear collision. The car driver was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving and suspended from driving.

The offence of dangerous driving under Section 64(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1961 carries a fine up to $5,000, or a jail term of up to one year, or both; and in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, up to $10,000, or a jail term up of to two years, or both. Offenders may also face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise graciousness and patience on the roads. The Police do not condone such thuggish behaviour on the roads and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who endanger the safety of other road users.
