The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
On 19 November 2024 at 3.45 pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a 71-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a man at the walkway along Serangoon North Avenue 2. The 71-year-old man suffered multiple injuries and was conveyed to the hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was unknown to the victim and the motive of the assault was unknown.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTV, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the 31-year-old man and arrested him in the vicinity of Hougang Street 91 on 20 November 2024.
The 31-year-old man will be charged in court on 21 November 2024 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine or caning.
The Police will spare no effort to track down those who commit such brazen acts of violence and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law.
