The Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 12 December 2024 at about 12.35 pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motorcycle on the third level of the multi-storey carpark at Block 28A Beo Crescent. The motorcycle was recovered on the same day on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park at Block 44A Beo Crescent. Items and cash amounting to USD $1,420 were missing, together with a motorcycle box. There were also notable damages caused to the motorcycle.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within six hours of the reported crime.

Investigation is ongoing for offences of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
  6. Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
