A 48-year-old male driver will be charged in court on 26 December 2024 for two counts of dangerous driving.
The Police were alerted to two incidents involving the driver of a white car who purportedly drove dangerously on 18 November 2024 along Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE), and on 27 November 2024 along Pandan Valley. He overtook other vehicles recklessly and applied intermittent braking that had endangered the safety of other motorists. Through follow up investigations, officers from the Traffic Police established the identity of the driver and arrested him for the offence of dangerous driving. The driver was immediately suspended from driving.
The offence of dangerous driving under Section 64(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1961 carries a fine up to $5,000, jail term up to 12 months, or both. In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, the offence carries a fine up to $10,000, a jail term up to two years, or both. Offenders may also face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
The Police takes a serious view of motorists who engage in dangerous driving behaviour that endangers the safety of other road users. The Police will not hesitate to take firm action against motorists who flout traffic laws.
