The Police have arrested two men, aged 29 and 30 for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.
On 12 February 2025 at about 7.35pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motor vehicle. The victim informed that one of his cars parked at a multi-storey carpark along Jalan Sultan was purportedly stolen.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the duo and arrested them on 14 February 2025. The stolen car was also recovered.
The duo will be charged in court on 15 February 2025 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park in well-lit areas,
- Install an anti-theft alarm system and ensure it is well-maintained,
- Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when leaving the vehicle, even if it is for a short while, and
- Remove the ignition key and lock the vehicle, whenever it is left unattended.
