Police Advisory For Bazaar Raya Geylang Serai 2025

The Bazaar Raya Geylang Serai 2025 will take place from 26 February 2025 and will end on 31 March 2025. 

In view of the large crowds expected, members of the public visiting the bazaar are advised to safeguard their belongings, exercise vigilance, and adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Always look after your belongings, especially in crowded areas;
  2. Ensure your bag is always closed and sling it in front of you;
  3. Avoid placing your wallet in your back pocket; and
  4. Be vigilant and look out for suspicious persons or activities. Keep your community safe, and dial ‘999’ for urgent police assistance.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Heavy vehicular traffic is expected along Changi Road and Sims Avenue during this period. Motorists are advised to avoid the affected roads, make alternative travel arrangements, and drive cautiously. Auxiliary police officers will be deployed at the affected roads and junctions to regulate traffic and assist members of the public. Strict enforcement action will also be taken against illegal parking.

SCAM AWARENESS

The Police would like to remind members of the public to be wary of the following scams when buying items online or renting vehicles during the festive period:

  1. E-Commerce Scam
    - Scammers target online shoppers by enticing them with attractive deals that do not exist. Subsequently, they become uncontactable after receiving payments from victims.
  2. Car Rental Scam
    - Scammers entice victims with attractive car rental deals through online advertisements, promising swift and seamless service. However, after receiving payments from victims, scammers become uncontactable.

Fighting scams is a community effort. ACT against scams to safeguard our community by adopting the following preventive measures:

  1. ADD - ScamShield app and security features (e.g. enable two-factor or multifactor authentication for e-wallets, online, messaging and Singpass accounts). Install anti-virus apps to safeguard against malware (go.gov.sg/anti-virus-apps).

  2. CHECK - for scam signs with official sources (e.g. ScamShield app, visit www.scamshield.gov.sg, or call the  ScamShield Helpline at 1799) to check. 

  3. TELL - authorities, family, and friends about scams. Report the fraudulent transactions to your bank and report the number or advertisement to the social, messaging or e-commerce platforms.

ADVISORY AGAINST MISUSE OF SPARKLERS 

The Police will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone who misuses sparklers, such as combining multiple sparklers and setting them off together at once. Such acts are potential fire hazards which can cause undue danger and alarm to the public. Anyone caught misusing sparklers will be liable to an offence of rash or negligent conduct with respect to the dangerous or harmful substance under Section 284 of the Penal Code 1871. Should the act be likely to cause hurt or injury to any other person or endanger human life and if convicted, the offender will be liable to an imprisonment term which may extend to one year, or a fine up to $5,000, or with both. Should the act cause hurt to any other person and if convicted, the offender will be liable to an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, or a fine, or with both.
