Man Arrested For Robbery Within Four Hours

The Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery.

On 26 March 2025 at about 12.15pm, the Police were alerted to a case of robbery along Jalan Bukit Merah. An elderly male victim reported that an unknown man had allegedly robbed his gold bracelet valued at more than $10,000. The victim refused and a struggle ensued between them and the man managed to flee with the gold bracelet. The victim sustained minor injuries due to the struggle.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within four hours of the report. The gold bracelet was subsequently recovered.

The man will be charged in court on 27 March 2025 with the offence of robbery under Section 392 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than two years and not more than 10 years, and caning of not less than 6 strokes.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law. Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
